Scott Heron began dancing at Colorado College in 1983 and has been going at it ever since. In New York, he performs with countless downtown troupes and has shown his own work at many theaters including Performance Space 122, which commissioned 4 evening length works.

He received a 2003 New York Dance and Performance Bessie Award for his body of work as a performer.

His work has been influenced by ongoing study and collaboration with Deborah Hay and is featured in her books Lamb at the Altar: The Story of a Dance and My Body, the Buddhist. He is a juggler, rope walker, and founding member of Circus Amok, a free, queer, political circus that tours New York City parks and gardens each summer.

In recent years he has toured the U.S. and Eastern Europe as a dancer/collaborator in Cathy Weis Projects. He was based at IDA, an arts community in rural Tennessee before moving to New Orleans where he is director of Sidearm Gallery, a home-based gallery and performance space.
