Mark Lorimer was born in the south of England in 1969. He followed a degree course in contemporary dance and choreography at London Contemporary Dance School. He joined The Featherstonehaughs, under the artistic direction of Lea Anderson and performed with them in live and film works for 3 years.

In ’93 he moved to Brussels to join Compagnie Michele-Anne de Mey. In 1994 he began to work with Rosas/Anne-Teresa De Keersmaeker where he performed in new and reprised works for three years. He returned in ’99 – ’01 on an invitation to be rehearsal director for two new works and to tour these and existing works.

In ’97, together with 4 other dancers Mark became a founder member of Compagnie ZOO under the artistic direction of Thomas Hauert, building on, and moving away from much shared history and developing new improvisational and singing skills. His own piece Nylon Solution also tours independently.

Mark has also worked on projects with Bock & Vincenzi (Invisible Dances), Lucy Bailey (for an opera without words based on Pasolini’s Teorema), Mia Lawrence (Through the Looking Glass, Deeply), Rosemary Butcher, and composer/film-maker Renaud De Putter (Chants De Simplification–a film, and then a live performance about a transvestite’s journey back from female to male).

Mark also teaches workshops at Impulstanz, Vienna, and PARTS, Brussels.
